Which airport should I fly into?

How far is Present Moment from the airport?
Present Moment Retreat is located in the quaint little beach town of Troncones, a scenic 45 minute drive from the Zihuatanejo/Ixtapa Airport (ZIH).
Can you arrange airport transfer to Present Moment Retreat?
Certainly! Our English-speaking shuttle drivers are safe, reliable, and friendly. We can have them waiting at the airport holding a sign with your name(s) on it when you arrive.
What is the cost for transport to and from the airport?
The cost is $185 USD round trip. You can simply charge the transfer directly to your room. Please feel free to tip the driver in cash pesos if you like; 100-300 pesos is a good amount.
Will I need a Visa before going to Mexico?
American and Canadian citizens do not need to obtain a visa prior to arrival. Here is a link (https://www.mexperience.com/do-i-need-a-visa-to-visit-mexico/) with some good information on visa requirements for other nationalities.
Do I need a passport to travel to Mexico?
Yes! Any international travel will require a current passport that does not expire within 6 months of your travel period.
Should I rent a car during my stay?
There a car rental options at the airport, however, we generally recommend using taxis for all local transit, unless you are planning to surf on your own at several different spots throughout your stay. It's just one less thing to worry about during your retreat!

Is the restaurant open to the public?

What are the hours of the restaurant?
8:00 am to 10:00 pm, every day of the year.
Do you have a full bar?
Yes we do! As well as the best Margaritas in Troncones!
Do you have a Happy Hour?
Every day from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. All cocktails and tapas are half off.
Do I need a reservation to come for dinner?
You do not need a reservation except for special events and certain holidays.
Do you offer gluten free options?
Yes we do! Our kitchen is more than happy to accommodate.
Which nights do you have live entertainment?
During the high season we usually have entertainment up to 4 nights a week. Check our Instagram highlights for the current schedule.

Are yoga classes included in the room rate?
Yes, you will enjoy unlimited daily Present Moment yoga classes during your stay.
What style of yoga is practiced?
We offer a morning Vinyasa Flow class at 9:00 am and a Gentle Flow/Restorative/Yin class at 4:00 pm.
What type of meditation is offered?
We offer a seated, guided meditation every morning at 8:00 am
Is the yoga & meditation suitable for beginners?
Yes, our classes are setup for all levels.
Do I need to bring my own yoga gear?
We can provide mats, blocks, bolsters, straps, and cushions. Feel free to bring your own if you like.
Do you offer daily yoga classes?

Are the spa services open to the public?

Surf & Activities
Do you offer surf lessons?
Yes we do! Our instructors can provide lessons for beginners or lead guided trips for more advanced surfers.
Do you rent surfboards?
We do not rent board at Present Moment, however there is a rental shop right across the street. Our instructors can provide boards on all lessons and guided trips.
Are there surf breaks in walking distance of Present Moment?
There are a couple breaks along our beach depending on the conditions of the day.
Is the beach at Present Moment safe for swimming?
The shore directly in front of Present Moment is a bit rocky but there are easy entry spots just a short walk down the beach in either direction.
Should I rent a car during my stay?

About Present Moment Retreat
Are meals included in the room rate?
Gourmet breakfast is included each day of your stay at Present Moment.
Do you have seasonal rates?
Yes we do. Our high season is November 1st to April 31st and low season is May 1st to October 31st. Please visit our Booking Engine to check rates and availability.
Is Present Moment Kid Friendly or Adults Only?
We welcome all ages as long as the tranquility of the retreat center can be honored.
What is your payment policy?
All reservations require a 50% deposit at the time of booking. The remaining balance will be due at check-in.
What forms of currency are accepted at Present Moment?
We accept cash (Mex pesos) and most major credit cards. We recommend that you contact your financial institution(s) and let them know you are traveling to Mexico to avoid the inconvenience of your credit/debit cards being blocked.
What is your cancellation policy?
Cancellations require at least 30 days notice prior to the date of arrival for a refund, minus a 20% administration fee. After such period, 100% of the deposit will be forfeited for loss of rental opportunity. You will be charged the full amount for your stay if you decide to leave early or choose to cancel within 7 days before the arrival date of your reservation.
What times are check in and checkout?
Check in is at 4:00 pm. You are welcome to arrive early to begin enjoying the Present Moment facilities and restaurant while your room is being prepared. Checkout is at 12:00 pm.
Is smoking permitted on the property?
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on our property, including the beach in front of Present Moment.
What should I bring with me to Present Moment?
We recommend bringing sun protection: sun block, a rash guard, a hat, a beach cover-up and sunglasses. If you'd like and have room, you should add water shoes and/or hiking sandals, a drinking vessel/water bottle, an hair dryer (we don't provide them) and a headlamp (for hands-free evening strolls on the beach). Natural insect repellant, such as citronella, may be useful at times. Please refrain from using any products with DEET as we like to avoid any toxic chemicals around the property.
Do you offer laundry service?
Yes we do. Laundry service can be arranged with Reception for $10 per load.
Do the rooms come equipped with fans or AC?
All of our open-air bungalows have ceiling fans and 3 of our Suites have Air Conditioning.
Do the rooms have private bathrooms?
Yes, every room has its own private bathroom.
Do the rooms have mosquito nets?
All of our open-air bungalows have mosquito nets for the beds. The Air Conditioned Suites do not.
Are there hair dryers and irons in the rooms?
No, we do not provide hair dryers or irons.
Do the rooms come with security boxes for valuables?
We are very fortunate to have extremely low crime in Playa Troncones. Almost all of our spaces are open-air and very safe. As such, we do not provide safety boxes in the rooms. We do have one small safe in our Reception that you may leave a wallet or passport in if you like.
Are the bungalows located on the beach?
Our property is waterfront so every bungalow is only a few steps to the sand. Our Master Suite is directly on the beach.
Are there bicycles available to rent?
We do not rent bicycles onsite, however there is a rental shop just 5 minutes walking down the road.
Is WiFi available in all the rooms?
Yes, we have good WiFi throughout the entire property.
Can I bring a group to Present Moment?
Absolutely! Present Moment is perfectly designed for retreat groups of all kinds. Please visit our Host a Retreat page to learn more!
Is the water safe to drink?
Our water is filtered and treated before entering the property. It is safe for general hygiene use, however we provide purified drinking water to be extra safe. Remember to bring your favorite water bottle!
What is the atmosphere like around Present Moment?
Restful, restorative, & tranquil. Every effort has gone into providing the perfect relaxing retreat environment for our guests.
Are you open year-round?
We are open every day of the year. Some years we have closed for 1 month in the summer for projects, but generally we are open year-round.
Do you offer Day Passes to enjoy the property?
We offer Day Passes. Adults are 450 pesos each and kids from 5-11 years are 150 pesos. Includes Access to our Private Beach, Pool & Jacuzzi, and 1 Mocktail ; from 10am to 6pm. From May through October our Day Passes are 30% off.
Can I bring my pet?
Yes you can! There is a $25 charge per pet, per night. No pets are allowed on the beds at any time, and any damage caused to furniture or rugs will be added to your room charges.
About Troncones
Are there convenience stores and shops within walking distance?
There are several small tiendas & shops in walking distance. Visit our friends at Casa Croma right across the street for some great gifts. Rent a bike and explore the neighboring beaches and village of Mahajua!
Are there other restaurants within walking distance?
Troncones, Manzanillo Bay, and Mahajua all offer small restaurants to explore. A few are just a short walk from Present Moment.
What is the weather like in Troncones?
Troncones boasts an average of 300 days of sunshine each year. During the high season–from November to April–the average temperature is generally between 85 and 95 degrees F. The rainy season runs from late June to early October when the days are hot and humid and the hotels are generally less expensive.
Is there much crime in Troncones?
We are very fortunate to have extremely low crime in Playa Troncones. Almost all of our spaces are open-air and we feel very safe at all times.
Is there zika or malaria in the region?
We are unaware of any confirmed cases of zika or malaria around Playa Troncones.
