Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy: A Bridge from Body to Soul - by Michael Lee - Health & Fitness - 1997 - 220 pages The deep physical, emotional and spiritual shifts these people endure during yoga therapy give them the courage to face their intense and ...
In the 1980s author
Michael Lee discovered, while doing yoga, that he gained great
insight and awareness about himself and life. It was as though
his body was a port of entry to a deeper level of awareness.
He was transformed
physically, mentally and spiritually. Wanting to help others
gain from his experiences, he founded the Phoenix-Rising Yoga
Therapy program, named after the mythical bird that burns
itself on the funeral pyre and rises from the ashes transformed. In
the East, the discipline of yoga has long been viewed as a
way to not only strengthen the body, but also as a means to
heal the mind and
to experience spiritual awareness and growth.

Here Michael Lee
explores the mind/body/spirit dynamics of yoga and shows readers
-- through illustrative case studies, photos and his own experiences
-- how and why this is such a powerful method for personal
transformation.
While there are
many yoga books on the market today, little has been written
about yoga as a personal-growth tool. Phoenix-Rising Yoga
will show readers how to use this unique blend of yoga and
psychology to bridge the
gap between body and soul.
