Troncones is a 30 minutes taxi ride from ZIH airport. We can make special arrangements to have a taxi cab pick you up at the airport. It runs around 750-850 Pesos. We would recommend bringing Pesos with you for the local restaurants and gift buying opportunities... as Present Moment we can take cash, credit cards and American Express.
You can rent a car but it is best to take a cab to us and relax for a while. Kick back and take it all in. We have everything you need. We even have excursions to explore of nearby lakes, caves, hot springs and waterfalls.
Just a walk down the beach to our closest (and epic) point break. Strong waves with occasional tubes. The north point is a left-break on reef, sometimes with tubes followed by a smooth wall. Breaks year round.
Located about 20 minutes north of Troncones, entering through the village of Los Llanos. It's a long and smooth river-mouth and reef left-break. A true World Class Wave. It breaks year round, though in winter it's a bit smaller and better for a longboard, as long as you're comfortable with lefts.
Located about 40 minutes drive of our retreat. River mouth lefts and rights. The left point is the best area in the zone. A decent-sized long and strong break most of the year, and a small wave in the wintertime.
Playa Las Gatas is a small beach at the southern entrance to Zihuatanejo bay. A powerful left hander sometimes breaks over a rock-reef off the southern point. It needs a massive southwest swell to wrap all the way into the bay and so only breaks a handful of times a year. When everything else is maxed out you may get lucky here, and is protected from most winds.
